Every day feels like an eternity. Every twinge in your tummy is a new symptom. Every burp and fart is certainly a sign that you are a mommy to be. Or is it? Thoughts race through your head: You want it to be more than anything yet you can't actually believe that it will happen to you. Around the sixth or seventh day after ovulation your mind turns towards those little sticks under the bathroom counter. You want to test, so badly, to see that positive result. Insanity feels close and your not certain if you will ever make it through this time without buying out your local store of pregnancy tests. What do you do?
You need to find something to occupy your mind and time! Let's face it, any spare time that you have is going to be spent obsessing over whether you are pregnant. You need something that interests you almost as much as this whole getting pregnant thing. So, what interests you? Do you like building websites or would you like to learn how? Do you like cooking? Find new recipes and get busy! Whatever it is that you are passionate about, this is the time that you need to dive head first into it. If you can't think of anything that you are that passionate about try looking up some things to do online. Type "hobby" into any search engine, pick one and go for it. If you have a full time job maybe you should put in some overtime.
The whole point of this is to just get your mind off of TTC for those two long weeks. Stress can play an important part in some Women not being able to conceive. You know when people say "just relax and it will happen" and we feel like shaking them, well maybe there is some truth to it. Maybe you could try some yoga or some other type of relaxation techniques. There is a really great program on DVD called "Bend, Breathe and Conceive: Fertility Yoga". It is suppossed to be a very good program for women who are TTC. A recent study found that 10 weeks of Yoga significantly increased conception rates. This particular DVD will help you improve your reproductive health, relieve stress (which is very important during the 2WW) and improve your odds of conceiving.
In any case, I pray that you get pregnant soon. But just remember:
- Get a good hobby to dive into
- Try to stay as relaxed as possible
It will be tough but hopefully these things will help you make it through that dreaded 2WW with your sanity still intact!
